Hi everyone!

We’re Ben and Joe Wright, brothers from Chester. We also run Porta Tapas on Northgate Street (and previously, Joseph Benjamin Restaurant). We’re really excited to have taken over the Gardeners Arms.

After a pretty extensive restoration, we’re happy to announce we will be opening the pub on Monday 11th August under the new name “The Jolly Gardeners”.

Head chef George Prole has been busy testing dishes for our menu. Emphasis is on top-quality ingredients, cooked and plated simply. The large charcoal grill will take centre stage and will be used extensively throughout the menu. Whole animal and fish butchery will be carried out in house as much as possible.

The dishes - including pub classics - will be British led with some European influence, with a less-is-more style of plating. Micro-herbs, gels, foams and swooshes are all barred!

Manager Will Baker has been working on a line-up of quality cask and keg beers.

As a free-house we are not tied to any brewery. This gives us the freedom to pick and choose the best beers from our favourite breweries.
